The Clerk's Office is still Open, but...

​The Kane County Clerk's office in Geneva will remain open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY so people can get the vital records they may need urgently.  The Aurora branch office will be temporarily closed due to the health emergency.  We can still issue marriage licenses, birth, death and marriage certificates, take tax redemption payments, and accept passport applications at the Geneva office at assigned appointment times.  We do ask that if you can wait and utilize our online or mail in services to please do so.

Court Wedding/Civil Union Ceremony Announcement

Chief Judge Hull has ordered as a precautionary measure in response to the Coronavirus that no marriages or civil unions will be performed in the Kane County Court system at all until April 20, 2020.  This is effective beginning Tuesday March 17th, ​2020.  Couples with licenses that will expire before April 20th are encouraged to call 630-232-5950.  

​Couples who have judicial marriage / civil union packets and would like to continue to have a ceremony performed by a private officiant will need to come back into the office to get a marriage /civil union license printed to use the day of the ceremony.   

The Kane County Clerk's office will waive the fees for those couples who need to reapply after the court resumes providing marriage / civil union services.  Be sure to call 630-232-5950 for details.

The Kane County Clerk's office is still OPEN to issue marriage / civil union licenses which are then valid for 60 days after issuance.
